Hamas Professor at NYU Today: Open Terror Apology on Elite Campus Mohamed Abdou

Praises Assassins and Jihad While Universities Cash Checks Taxpayers Fund This Hate.

NYU is hosting a man who openly declares himself with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Right now. April 21, 2026. The event is called “The Student Movement is Dead. What Now?” It is run by Shut It Down NYU, a non-registered anti-Israel coalition. Promotional flyers show keffiyeh figures waving guns. Red triangles mark targets exactly like the October 7 propaganda videos. Masks required. This is not debate. This is recruitment.

Mohamed Abdou calls himself a “North African-Egyptian Muslim anarchist interdisciplinary activist-scholar.” He has advanced degrees. He taught at Columbia, Cornell, American University in Cairo, Queen’s, and Toronto. His 2022 book Islam and Anarchism from Pluto Press pushes the exact blend of jihad and decolonization theory now poisoning American campuses. Columbia hired him in January 2024 as Arcapita Visiting Assistant Professor in Modern Arab Studies. That was three months after his October 11, 2023 Facebook post: “Yes, I’m with Hamas & Hezbollah & Islamic Jihad.” He taught “Decolonial-Queerness & Abolition in SWANA.” He joined the encampments. He disrupted Hillary Clinton events and called her a war criminal who would burn.

Congress grilled Columbia President Minouche Shafik in April 2024. Rep. Elise Stefanik forced the question. Shafik said Abdou would never work there again. Columbia confirmed termination. Abdou claimed his contract just ended. Semantics do not matter. A U.S.-designated terror supporter held a paid faculty post months after the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust. One thousand two hundred Israelis murdered. Two hundred fifty taken hostage. Columbia kept him until the cameras rolled.

He did not disappear. He launched the “Death to the Akademy” tour. In March 2026 Union Theological Seminary, a Columbia affiliate, booked him then canceled at the last minute over violent imagery. The talk went virtual anyway. Video shows Abdou telling students: “Let us engage in jihad… We don’t engage in wanton violence, but we don’t accept the negative peace either.” He praised Elias Rodriguez, the Chicago man charged with the May 2025 assassination of two Israeli embassy staffers outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. Abdou said, “God bless him. He took action… Elias, he took action. Take action.” He held up Aaron Bushnell, the airman who self-immolated in 2024 screaming “Free Palestine,” as another hero of “action.” In his own Substack he wrote, “I believe in an Islam that hates America.”

These are not metaphors. Rodriguez faces federal hate crime and murder charges for shooting civilians in cold blood. Bushnell died by suicide for the cause. Abdou frames both as legitimate resistance against “Zionists” and “Euro-Amerikan empire.” He urges students to “be a threat, fulfill it.” He calls Hamas’s October 7 killers “dedicated few” operating in “stealth mode” against a “larger enemy.” This is not scholarship. This is incitement dressed in academic jargon.

NYU is not officially sponsoring. The school issued a statement condemning the threatening language and violent imagery. It claims to be investigating policy violations. The event proceeds anyway. Organizers stream it globally. Jewish students blocks away still face harassment from the same networks. Classes have been shut down. Federal probes into antisemitism at NYU and over one hundred other schools drag on while billions in taxpayer dollars keep flowing.

This is the pattern. Since October 7, 2023, campuses became war zones for Jewish students. Encampments at Columbia, NYU, UCLA, Harvard, Penn, MIT. Buildings seized. Jews assaulted, blocked from classes, told to “go back to Poland.” Faculty signed letters defending “resistance.” Administrators refused to condemn Hamas by name for days. Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace – both flagged antisemitic by the House in 2023 – run the shows with faculty advisers. Qatar and Gulf money pours into Middle East studies centers. The Network Contagion Research Institute documented it. “From the river to the sea” and “globalize the intifada” became protected speech while Jewish groups faced suspension.

Abdou is the perfect vector. He fuses Islamist jihad with anarchist decolonization, critical race theory, and queerness studies. He is not a bomb-maker. He is the intellectual who tells impressionable kids that mass rape, burning families, and hostage-taking equal “armed resistance” against “settler-colonialism.” He normalizes murder as heroism. He is Canadian-Egyptian, non-citizen. His visa should have been revoked the moment he endorsed designated terrorists. Instead universities platform him.

Who benefits? Radical faculty networks keep their grants and speaking gigs. Administrators avoid leftist faculty revolts and keep the foreign donor cash. Activist students get tenure-track pipelines and viral clout. Taxpayers and Jewish students pay the price. Universities collect hundreds of millions in federal funding while Title VI investigations crawl. The “student movement” Abdou praises did not die. It became permanent infrastructure for radicalization.

The timing is deliberate. Abdou speaks at NYU the same week federal pressure on campus antisemitism ramps up under the new Trump administration. He positions himself as mentor to the next generation of organizers. “Death to the Akademy” is not protest. It is strategy to “topple Euro-Amerikan empire where they are.”

Accountability is clear. Columbia’s leadership failed. NYU’s leadership is failing right now. Every president, dean, and Title VI coordinator who looked the other way is complicit. Congress must condition every dollar of federal funding on real enforcement. Audit every foreign donation from Qatar and Gulf states. Fire administrators who protect terror sympathizers. Deport non-citizens who incite violence. Revoke visas. Jewish students deserve safety on campus. Every American deserves universities that do not train the next generation to celebrate terrorists.

This is not free speech. Free speech does not include praising the murder of Jews or calling for jihad on U.S. soil. When universities refuse to police their borders, the public must police the funding. Otherwise “Hamas on campus” stops being a scandal and becomes policy. The rot is deep. The Abdou event at NYU is Exhibit A. Shut it down. Deport him. Defund the machine. Now.
